Melissa is my second daughter. I have known her since before she was born, she has been a gift to her big sister Linley and I.

What is your favorite item of clothing in your closet?
Either a jacket for good lines and structure, or a sweatshirt for relaxing, yoga and yard work!

Nanette Lepore. Her clothing is classic and charming, structured and feminine - and a little quirky. Burberry is also a favorite. I love the tailoring - very British. And then I love the colors and softness of Celine.

My friend Cheri. No matter what difficulty, trial or hardship she remains strong in her faith, generous and is an encouragement to others. But ultimately because she loves me unconditionally.

Do you have a favorite Raleigh or Durham restaurant? What is your favorite thing to order?
The shrimp or deviled eggs at Mateo in Durham. Or the spare rib tacos at Gonza’s Tacos & Tequila.

What is your favorite color to wear?
Green; it makes my “Irish eyes and hair” smile, and I feel pretty in it.

Who is your style icon?
Recently I’m impressed by Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle. Otherwise, I do not really notice style icons!

Describe your style:
Simple, understated, classic.

Name one fashion trend that you couldn’t get enough of when you were a kid:
I grew up in the original preppy 80’s and I love what we called ‘Dean sweaters’ - essentially a Fair Isle sweater in hot pink, green, turquoise and yellow. I loved them. ‘Add a Beads’ were a close second. I had three and was so thrilled to have them - I felt so grown up!

Cat or dog?
Dog for sure.

Coffee or tea?
Coffee every morning, and especially over vanilla ice cream… affogato anyone?

What do you love about your work?
Actually, I have a new job - it’s peaceful, and I love feeling appreciated there and that I contribute in a positive way.

Spunky, energetic, serious, realist and talkative.

How do you combat insecurity or feelings of unworthiness?
I remind myself that I am made in the image of God and that He loves me unconditionally and chose me to love. Isn’t that the most affirming truth of value?

Where is your dream vacation destination?
Greece and Italy with my girls.

Share some of your dreams. What are some goals or dreams you hope to accomplish in 2019 and beyond?
I dream through the eyes of my daughters - I dream for them, about them, their hopes, fears and desires. I dream of growing older with my husband, our home filled with family, food and fellowship, and lots of trips in our little camper.

What or who makes you feel really beautiful and confident?
My grandson Leo. I love when he first sees me and his face lights up and he runs to show me what he is doing!

What do you like the most about yourself?
My energy for my girls, my grandson, God, friends, football, DIY projects, bike rides, beach walks - anything I put my hands to.

Why do you think it is important to hire a stylist?
To help me think of myself as an individual, and as a woman. It teaches me to embrace my beauty, my creativity in dressing, to trust my instincts, and to refine a style.
